Providing a personal learning space that is both appropriate and fully functional for early years' learners and KS1 pupils is vital if they are to be introduced to the concepts of ownership and ICT in a meaningful way.
My First Place provides that experience through its colourful, child-friendly and easy-to-use interface that gives the perfect foundation for future learning platform use.
Using simple, recognisable icons, young digital adventurers can explore their own diary, file storage areas, drawing tool and basic word processor with just one click.
I was tasked with coming up with a solution to provide a Flash based art tool which would enable young learners to create some simple artwork. The artwork needed to be stored in a digital format which would.

1. SWGfL is one of ten regional broadband consortia (RBC) funded by the Department for Children Schools and Families to provide broadband and Internet services to schools. It currently serves schools, other educational establishments and libraries in 15 Local Authorities in the south west of England.2. SWGfL Merlin provides up to 750,000 pupils across 14 Local Authorities with an integrated online learning space, regional collaborative tools, interoperability services using SIF and a simplified sign on service which is Shibboleth compliant. The project is managed by RM plc in partnership with Netmedia Education.
